The album was sound-produced by Kenji Suzuki (Kenji Jammer), London-based guitarist known for his work with Simply Red, marking a clear departure from soulsin-g’s previous releases. The result is a collection of songs with a distinctly new and refined sonic identity. Inspired by Rubber Soul, the album title Washi soul combines “Washi” — traditional Japanese paper — with the concept of soul music. It represents soulsin-g’s desire to express his own Japanese interpretation of soul and share it with the world. The album artwork features a piece by Katsushika Hokusai, further emphasizing the fusion of Japanese aesthetics and soulful expression.
